The House of Flowers was begun in the summer of 1949 by Isabel O'Neill and her Aunt Ceil Gillespie. Isabel operated the shop until 1972 when it was purchased by her second cousin Michael O'Neill and his mother Marjorie. Presently, Michael is the owner and his sister Colleen Kelly joined the staff full time in 1998.

Michael has operated a retail flower shop for 35 years.  Inducted in AIFD, American Institute of Floral Designers, in 1991.  Won Teleflora's Design America Competition in 1992 and represented the United States at Floriade in Holland for Teleflora International Design Competition.  Taught floral design as a guest designer in Taiwan.  As a member of Teleflora's Endorsed Designer Team presented design programs in many states.

Authored a floral design course for Thompson Direct Learning.  Michael has been part of the floral design team for the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California and the Academy Awards in Hollywood, California.

Organized blooms over Atlanta in conjunction with AIFD's National Symposium.  Presented floral designs as part of two group programs and one solo program at AIFD National Symposium and served as program chair in 1998.  Served as President of PFIA ( Pennsylvania Floral Industry

Association) and AIFD Northeast Regional Chapter.  Chaired AIFD's exhibit at the Philadelphia Flower Show in 1997 and 2001.  Lots of committee work for AIFD and SAF (Society of American Florists) and is past National President of AIFD.

Colleen began her business career operating her own hairdressing business for 26 years. Her lifelong interest in interior design, coupled with working part time in her brother's shop, motivated her to give up her business and dive head first into the floral world.

Since then she has pursued her floral design education with great intensity, studying with several top educators from Germany, California and Vancouver. She also attends the American Institute of Floral Designers National Symposium each year, which is held somewhere different each years. Colleen also volunteers to make designs with left over flowers at the convention with AIFD "Bloom Over" where hundreds of floral designs from the symposium are delivered to hospitals and hospices all over the host city.

Colleen has worked as an assistant with the Philadelphia Flower Show, where she designed for the show. She was co-chairman for the AIFD exhibit at the 2007 show. Colleen will be the chair person for the 2008 AIFD exhibit. Titled "Jazz it Up". She is also the secretary for the Northeast Region of AIFD.

Colleen has been a member of AIFD since July of 2004. Her day to day specialties are wedding work and hand tied bouquets. Along with all the other tasks of the floral business.
